Flannigan was defending his 5km title from earlier in the summer and finished ahead of a field of 80 as he completed the course in 17:45 to take glory, with club mates Alex Sutton and Wayne Clements following behind with times of 18:11 and 18:35 respectively.

The first Vet50 runner to finish was Bracknell Forest Runners’ Jonathon Errington who crossed the line in 19:22 to take fourth place overall, whilst the first VetM60 was Richard Morgan of Reading Roadrunners with a time of 25:58.

Reading Roadrunners’ Sarah Urwin-Mann also repeated her success of May’s meeting as she was the first woman home with a time of 21:50.

The first Vet40 woman to finish was Tri2O’s Cindy Goslar in 23:55, whilst in the Vet50s, Annette Russell of Earley crossed the line first with a time of 28:52.

In the 10km, Mark Shepherd, from Reading, led the field of 124 to take glory in 35:30, with Guy Watts, from Newbury, and Tom Astley, from Wokingham, finishing behind him with times of 36:49 and 37:55 respectively.

The first male senior outside the podium was Reading Roadrunners’ Darryl Plank, in 38:03, with club mates Chris Kelly the first Vet40 to cross the line in 41:55, Paul Monaghan the first Vet50 in 43:42 and David Mills, from Wokingham, the first Vet60 in 49:56.

Katherine Sergeant of Reading Roadrunners was the first woman home with a time of 46:25.

He first Vet40 was Sarah Travers of Hatchwarren Runners, in 51:28 and first Vet50 was Barbel Adcock, from Wokingham. Reading Roadrunners’ Trisha Arnold followed her May success with another Vet60 first place, finishing in 1:06:28.

Race organiser, Ellie Barnes, said: “We were once again lucky with the weather, and saw some more fine performances from a real mix of entrants, among them seasoned club runners and those new to running.

“We’re now halfway through the series, and we look forward to seeing both familiar faces and newcomers at the remaining two races.” The next Barnes Fitness Dinton Summer Series 5km/10km is on Thursday, July 10 and will start at 7.30pm from the main Dinton Pastures car park.
