It was a solid effort from Bracknell who missed out on second place by a mere five points as Hastings finished just ahead on 2695 points, with Team Kennett comfortable winners on 3305.

The male throws team – too older to compete in the English Championships – were again the stars of the show for Bracknell.

Winning both strings of the Hammer and Discus – they dropped just one point in the Shot Putt.

Robert Mungham won the hammer with a season’s best throw that was over six metres further than his nearest rival before winning the Shot Putt.

The ever reliable Mark Wiseman then stepped up to the plate by winning the junior hammer by a massive 23 metres before winning the Discus by 13 metres.

Bracknell men then competed in all eight strings of the jumps for the first time in many years.

Ben Russell and Peter Marlow were at the centre of it as they achieved a one-two in the High Jump, with Russell taking first spot.

Marlow then excelled in the senior Triple Jump as he added 62cms to his previous personal best total.

The duo then competed in the pole vault despite never having competed in it and to their credit, took eight of the 12 points on offer.

The senior Long Jump was won by youth Robbie Wilde, who was making his debut in the senior team and the junior Triple was covered by Bracknell stalwart Richard Stock. In all, Bracknell achieved 39 of the 48 points on offer - 20 of which were scored by Marlow.

Juan Del Azar grabbed the only “A” string win on the track in the 1500m as he came under the four-minute mark for the first time this season to take victory by 15 seconds.

The only other individual track wins both belong to youth Ryan Blackstone, who achieved the “B“ string sprint double. In so doing he equalled his 100m PB and knocked two tenths of a second from his previous 200m PB.

Bracknell Ladies enjoyed a double celebration on the track in the metric mile. Hope Goddard won the “A” string 1500m and Emily Read the “B” string race, having Emily having already won the senior 800m. Grace Goddard then finished over three minutes ahead of her nearest rival in the 3k race to continue the Ladies’ good form.

On the Field, Alicia Robey and Abi Waters both clearing the same height, won both strings of the High Jump, whilst Laura King beat all around her to win the senior Discus, Georgia Hulbert won the senior Hammer and Ellie Cooper excelled to take the honours in the senior Javelin.

The best was saved until last though for Bracknell as for the first time in their two years in the league, they won all four relays at the end of the day.

The Ladies 4x100m was won by a second before they secured the 4x400m by a comfortable time of 16 seconds.

It was closer for the Men as they edged their 4x100m by just a tenth of a second before a late charge by Ryan Brackstone overturned a deficit for Bracknell in the final race as they grabbed victory from the jaws of defeat in the 4x400m.
