FOUR of Washindi Trampoline Club’s elite gymnasts have qualified for the Southern Regional League finals at London’s Olympic Park later this year.

The quartet performed superbly at two recent tournaments in Birmingham and Gillingham to book their spots in the finals.

The club’s youngest gymnast, Lauren Neild, qualified in 15th place in the 11-12 girls age group, while Ellie Stevenson placed 24th in the 15-16 years category to seal her place.

Bethan Gill and Callum Gooding also booked their places in the league finals for the second time thanks to some outstanding performances.

Gooding qualified in second place overall thanks to a first-place finish at Gillingham, while Gill went through as third best in her age group.

In addition, Lydia Osborn finished in 26th place and Laura Caswell 33rd at the Gillingham event in the Women’s 19+ League 3 category.

All routines this season were extremely challenging and consisted of at least seven somersaults.

Meanwhile, Washindi sent two teams of eight, elite gymnasts to the Southern Regional Team event on the Isle of Wight recently.

They had been selected to represent the Crowthorne-based club after some impressive performances in three earlier competitions.

One of the teams secured a podium finish after placing third, while the other team ended in sixth place.

The teams consisted of an array of abilities and ages. Gymnasts completed two, ten-move routines, with points accumulated through form and difficulty.
