SAM Fox-Harvey netted for South Berkshire men, but their their MBB&O Division One promotion hopes were dealt a blow with a 5-1 home defeat to league leaders Witney, writes Richard Ashton.

The fifth-placed side – who are now six points adrift of second spot – travel to Ramgharia on Saturday.

Jack Baveystock, Sean Hardingham and Sam Pillar were all on target as South Berkshire 2nds gave their survival bid a boost with a 3-1 victory at lowly Sonning 2nds.

In Division Three, South Berkshire 3rds remain only three points off second place following a 5-0 rout of Oxford Hawks 5ths.

Tom Scott scored a hat-trick and Baveystock added to his tally for the day with a double as the hosts eased to victory.

South Berkshire 4ths were overcome 4-0 at West Hampstead 6ths as George Maudsley bagged a brace and Paul Maynard and Mark Jenkins also found the net in Division Five.

Rock bottom South Berkshire 5ths suffered a 13th defeat in as many games, but they put in an improved show despite losing 2-0 at home to third-placed Bourton & Sherborne in Division Seven.

South Berkshire Terriers remain right in the Division Eight West promotion hunt after they moved level on points with third-placed Thame 2nds following an excellent 4-1 victory at the Oxfordshire side.

South Berkshire Ladies stayed fourth in Premier One of the Trysports Three Counties League after they battled to a 2-1 success at relegation-threatened Aylesbury.

They will look to stretch their unbeaten run to seven games when they host Oxford Hawks 3rds on Saturday.

South Berkshire Ladies 2nds remain right in the thick of the Premier Two relegation battle after the second-bottom side were beaten 3-1 at home by the team directly above them, Witney 2nds.

The result pushes the Oxfordshire side nine points clear of South Berks.

In Division Three, South Berkshire 3rds were defeated 2-0 at home to Aylesbury 3rds.
