WOKINGHAM continued their progress in the National Top Club tournament with a victory against Royal Household, winning four of the five events.

In the 2 Wood Singles, Neil Jones won 17-5, while in the 4 Wood Singles, Clive Tarran won his match as a result of his opponent having to withdraw feeling unwell.

Martin O’Connor and Gareth Colebrook won their pairs match 22-14, although Michael Duggan, Trevor Gilmour and John Scowen lost their triples 12-5.

However there was a clear victory for Andy Franklin, Len Cooke, Malcolm Giles and Bob Thompson who won their rink 31-12.

The club were beaten 89-82 in a tight Kennet League Division One clash, although the rink of Paul Melhuish, Malcolm Giles, Martin O’Connor and Martin Brailey won their rink 32-15.

In Division Two, Wokingham B lost 109-44, while there was also a bad result for Wokingham C who lost 106-50 in Division Three.

There was a better result for Wokingham A in their Kennet LX League Division One match at Woodley, where they won 67-48. The visitors won on all three triples with the one skipped by Bob Thompson successful 25-11.

Wokingham B lost 52-44 to Three Mile Cross, although there was a great win for Stuart Slocombe along with George Hayne and Gerry Deeves. They won 23-8.

In Division Two, Wokingham C lost 58-44 at Maiden Erlegh, and in Division Three Wokingham D lost 64-50 to Great Hollands D.

  • GREAT Hollands Linnets beat Maidenhead Town 62-47 for an 8-2 point victory in the Thames Valley Ladies League.

Rita Littleford skipped the highest winning rink (25-10), Sheila Lee’s won 16-9 and Jose Chippendale’s lost 28-21.

The Wrens won 67-34 against Reading University for a 10-0 points win. Sheila Strickland skipped the highest winning rink (27-9) with Shelia Ledbury (22-8) and Myrtle McMoneagle (18-17) skipping on the other rinks.

Great Hollands lost 77.5-68 to Sunningdale in the Kennet league (11-3 on points). The losers won one rink skipped by Dave Sutherby (24-13.5), drew on one under the guidance of Ray Furnell (19-19) but lost on the other two led by George Harris (28-13) and Don Foote (17-12).

The highest scoring rink for Sunningdale comprised Steve Hawthorne, Brian Munden, Adrian Thomas and Derek Cooper(skip).

The Kennet LX League A team lost to Maidenhead Town A 57-45 (9-1 on points).

Great Hollands won no rink, drawing one skipped by Harris (21-21). Sutherby’s (20-11) and Furnell’s (16-13) were both beaten.

The B team lost 59-48 to Windsor and Eton B in an 8-2 points defeat. Henry Bone (20-15) skipped the only winning rink with Fred Moody (26-16) and Fred Payne (18-12) losing theirs.

  • SUNNINGDALE BC lost 67-50 at Twyford in their Kennet LX League encounter, taking two points to their opponents’ eight. The winning rink for Sunningdale was Reg Nutley, Gareth Williams and Dennis Bailey (skip).

The B team won all rinks in their 84-39 home victory against Wraysbury to take all 10 points, and Sunningdale beat Palmer Park 53-50 in the Thames Valley Ladies League (8-2 on points).
