Karl Roberts’ men brushed aside mid-table Farnham Royal by running in eight tries to rack up another bonus-point victory.

With snow affecting the BB&O Championship programme, Cricket Field Grove provided the perfect backdrop for Crows to test themselves against an uncompromising Farnham.

Crows stuck rigidly to their game plan and they notched their first try after five minutes when left-wing James Huckle touched down out wide.

Their second came straight from the restart after Crows turned the ball over before George Watson sent Matt Elsbury over the line. Tom Wilson nailed a difficult conversion, the first of four successful attempts on the day.

Farnham replied with a penalty, but they were the visitors’ only points of the game.

Crows, meanwhile, had the bit between their teeth and a further try from right-wing Andy Dawson followed by a superb, individual touchdown from No.8 Alex Ter Kuile, after he broke from a scrum on the Farnham 22 and beat two defenders, put them firmly in the driving seat. Roberts’ men increased their lead shortly before the interval when Huckle crossed for his second try of the day.

However, they were somewhat fortunate to escape punishment early in the second half when two players appeared to tip-tackle a Farnham opponent, an incident missed by the referee.

Crows capitalised on the break and, after their defence held firm during a period of Farnham pressure, they notched three further tries to seal the victory.

Wilson grabbed a brace himself and Ter Kuile crossed for his second of the match to round off another impressive performance, which saw hooker John Bullet named man-of-the-match for his dogged contribution.

Crows are without a fixture this weekend and return to action on Saturday, January 31 when they host Harwell (2.30pm).
