Adult students Andrew Debnam, Stephen Payne and Stuart Bell along with 14-year-old Ahsan Qureshi were put through a grueling six-hour grading for their black belts.
Alan Weyman and Richard Martin were also graded for a further hour by Chief Instructor Justyn Billingham for the second dan black belt grades.
It was that combined with a written essay as well as their attitude and dedication during four years of training that resulted in whether they passed or failed.
A black belt student has to wait two years after passing their black belt before they can then take their second dan.
Billingham said; “I am extremely proud of any student that has the drive to reach their goal. A black belt is not only recognition of martial arts ability but a sign of a student’s character, determination and refusal to quit.” Blaze Martial Arts hold classes for both children and adults.
