BRACKNELL AND WOKINGHAM swimmer Andrew Willis won his 200m breaststroke heat in a new English record at the Aquatics Centre this morning.
Willis, competing in his first Olympic Games, came home in a time of 2 minutes 09.33 seconds - five tenths quicker than when he won the national title in March - to qualify for this evening's semi-final.
His training partner Michael Jamieson set a new British record in the previous race, so the GB duo qualify second and third overall for the semis.
He said: "The heats were very quick so I had to do everything to make it. I just want to go out tonight, do my best and get into the final and then you never know what can happen."
