The Plaza Lawns were transformed into a colourful fairground with a selection of thrilling rides on offer for all the family to enjoy.

Children were even treated to complimentary toffee apples and pony rides between races.

Around 85 volunteers helped to raise a total of £30,000 for local charities on the day.

In the last five years, some of the local charities which have benefitted from the proceeds raised from this event include SportsAble, The Prostate Project, The Prostate Cancer Charity, Thames Valley & Chiltern Air Ambulance Trust, Ascot Heath Nursery School, Thames Hospice, Ascot Volunteer Bureau, Frimley Park Hospital Radio, 2nd Ascot Guides, 2nd Bracknell Scouts and the Scout Fellowship North Ascot drop-in centre.

The feature race was the United House Gold Cup Chase over three miles, which boasted total prize money of £100,000 and was won by 7/1 shot What a Warrior.

Joint favourite Ulck Du Lin (9/2) triumphed in The Byrne Group Handicap Chase, while 15/8 favourite Sign of a Victory scored by half a length from Dawalan in the competitive William Hill Handicap Hurdle, run over two miles.

Nick Smith, Head of Communications at Ascot Racecourse said: “With more than 26,000 visitors through the gates on Saturday, the atmosphere was incredible. It was a superb finale to a great day’s racing, not to mention the incredible generosity of the local community towards the Round Table charity collections.” Looking ahead, the Jumps season continues at Ascot on November 21 and 22. With the festive season well on its way, Ascot will host a Christmas Shopping Village in conjunction with Country Living, who are known for their popular monthly lifestyle magazine and Christmas Fairs.

Between the varied six race-card featuring fences and hurdles, racegoers can lose themselves in the delights of more than 40 stalls selling gifts perfect for the festive season, from fine jewellery to luxury toiletries and racing-themed home-ware to quirky Christmas crafts.
