Harry Swabey was the star of the show for Finch, netting three times to help down the visitors, who spent 70 minutes of the game with a red card.

It was billed as a tough test for Jon Laugharne’s men, and it looked ominous just three minutes in when Craig Pearman fired the visitors ahead.

But it was an end-to-end start and it took just two minutes for Finch to reply as Chris Dean collected a cross in the box and drilled the ball past Darren Booker in the home goal.

The early turnaround was complete in the 12th minute when Swabey grabbed his first of the game after indecision by Booker allowed the Finch striker to nip in and put the hosts ahead. It was a superb start to the game by the hosts and things got even better for them in the 20th minute when the visitors were reduced to ten men.

James McMahon was dismissed for a bad challenge and it gave Finch complete control but they couldn’t extend their lead before the break.

It didn’t take long for the third goal to arrive in the second-half though, as Swabey ran onto a delicious chipped pass from Matt Wright to net his second of the game.

Easington were struggling to create anything in reply but were given a lifeline midway through the second-half when they were awarded a penalty.

Andrew Stidder stepped up and converted the spot kick, reducing the deficit to just one goal to set up a grandstand finish.

But instead of crumbling under the pressure, the Easington reply woke Finch up and they stepped up their game to score two more goals to seal an emphatic performance.

Swabey completed his hat-trick with a clinical lob over Booker to regain Finch’s two-goal lead.

The game was wrapped up minutes from time when Ryan Tye came off the bench to add a fifth goal.

Finchampstead saw the game out comfortably and move up to sixth place in Hellenic Division One East.

Finch travel to Woodley Town on Saturday (3pm) in league action.
