The visitors enjoyed the majority of possession but lacked quality in the final third to hurt the hosts, who defended admirably in tough conidition.

Binfield’s best chance of the game came in the 18th minute, when a penalty was awarded, giving them the perfect opportunity to open the scoring.

But ex-Moles keeper Shaun Coker guessed right and pushed Adam Dickens’ penalty away to keep the scores level.

The introduction of Carl Withers and Josh Howell gave the Moles fresh impetus late on but Coker stood strong when tested and Binfield had to settle for a point.

And Herridge was full of credit for Holyport and admitted their gameplan had paid dividends, as Binfield were denied victory.

“It was a frustrating afternoon for us,” he admitted. “But you have to give credit to Holyport who defended well, were organised and stuck to their gameplan to earn their point.

“Shaun Coker came back to haunt us. He didn’t have loads to do, but what he did do, he did well and he saved the penalty which earned them a point. We found it difficult to break them down and despite having a lot of possession, we didn’t really do much with it.

“But it’s a work in progress and I’m confident that we’ll get stronger. We’ve looked better recently and we looked very solid at the back but it’s just frustrating that we couldn’t get the goal.” Binfield had been looking to make it the perfect Bank Holiday weekend after picking up three points at home to Abingdon United on Saturday.

The Moles ran out 2-0 winners but left it late - with goals from Adam Dickens and Jemel Johnson coming in the 75th and 80th minute respectively.

It was a tight encounter and Binfield were grateful to keeper Dan Weait for keeping them level midway through the first-half when he made a point-blank save to deny the visitors.

But Mark Tallentire’s men were dominant in the second-half and Seb Bowerman was particularly impressive as he drove at the Abingdon defence and created several chances.

One was finally taken in the 75th minute when Dickens got on the end of a trademark run from Bowerman to fire the Moles into the lead.

It was 2-0 soon after when Ian Davies escaped his marked and released Johnson who fired home to seal the victory for Binfield.

The Moles were left frustrated at not being able to turn three points into six on Monday but will have been pleased to have kept two clean sheets in quick succession.

Binfield will look to build on their two unbeaten games when they host Newbury on Saturday (3pm).
