Summer signings at Hill Farm Lane had meant that Binfield entered the season in high spirits.
But a 3-2 defeat at home to Oxford City Nomads, followed by a 3-0 loss at Badshot Lea in the FA Cup on Saturday has dampened morale at the club.
Herridge believes that the signings Binfield made, and the quality of players they possess, entices opposition teams to try harder, something he says they will have to learn to deal with as the season progresses.
“Teams will look at who we’ve signed and it’ll give them that little bit extra to want to beat us,” he said.
“It happened last Monday and it’ll happen again.
“We’ve got to be alert to it as Saturday showed us that if you’re not on top of your game, then you’ll get beat.
“Teams tend to raise their game and I think our reputation goes before us to an extent now.
“But that’s not an excuse, and it’s something we need to use as motivation.”
