The Robins were left to rue missed opportunities that would have wrapped the game up as Binfield levelled with just six minutes remaining in front of a bumper crowd.

Bracknell looked like they were heading towards all three points with goals from Shane Cooper-Clark and Lewis Burns, but The Moles drew level through James Suarez and Rapley.

It was a tense, pulsating game between two sides in great form, with 179 onlookers at Hill Farm Lane to watch the game unfold.

Martin Bradshaw had the best opportunity of the game early on as a glorious Eddie Gray pass sent him clear, but his finish was lacking.

The Robins did make the breakthrough soon after, though, when they sprung a counter-attack from a Moles corner.

With the ball hooked clear, Cooper-Clark was first to a bouncing ball on the halfway line and nipped past his man to head towards goal.

As the striker entered the box he was bundled over by Brandon Blair and the referee pointed to the spot, giving the visitors the chance to draw first blood.

Cooper-Clark picked himself up and struck the ball bottom-left to give The Robins the lead.

The goalscorer made way at half-time due to a recurrence of a thigh strain picked up in Saturday’s win over Brimscombe & Thrupp, but his replacement made his mark immediately.

Burns had been on the pitch just five minutes when he caught a bouncing ball on the half-volley from 25 yards and fired towards goal.

Matt Watson in The Moles net could not get anywhere near it and Bracknell were 2-0 up with 50 minutes played.

The goal seemed to spark Binfield into life and, eager to protect their unbeaten streak and salvage some local pride, they poured forward looking for a lifeline.

It came in the 65th minute when Dan Smith failed to gather a cross and the ball fell to Suarez, who beat the defender on the line to reduce the deficit.

The Robins reacted well though and could have restored their two goal lead instantly but Bradshaw’s header was ruled out for offside.

It was another case of frustration for Bracknell shortly after as again they broke from a Moles corner but, despite being three-on-one, Burns could not get the ball out of his feet and Watson made the save to keep Binfield in the game.

And The Moles took advantage with just six minutes remaining as a cross was not dealt with at the backpost and Rapley fired the ball back across goal, with Grant Goodband unable to prevent it crossing the line.

The point ensures Binfield will finish fifth in the Hellenic Premier this season, whilst The Robins remain in 12th place, chasing a top-half finish.

Bracknell manager Steve Nebett was delighted with his side's performance in the 2-2 draw.

“Binfield are fifth and were on a seven game run so I’m not disappointed,” he said. “It just goes to show how good my team is.

“They were gutted in there and we’ve just said to them that you’re better than Binfield.

“You won’t see Binfield do that often. They went long ball because they couldn’t beat us playing football." Meanwhile, Binfield manager Roger Herridge accepted his side had got lucky in the Easter Monday clash.

“Over the 90 minutes they were better than us but we kept going to the end and got out of jail a bit,” admitted Herridge. “But we showed character. What we lacked in quality and work-rate we showed in character and desire."
