The Moles opened the scoring early on thanks to a header from former striker Adam Cornell, back on loan from Slough Town for the evening.

A 20-yard strike from Seb Bowerman doubled the advantage before Cornell netted his second of the game shortly after half-time.

Basement side Abingdon managed to pull a goal back but the visitors replied with efforts from Tom Hopper and Josh Howell to seal the win.

On Wednesday evening, Bracknell Town won their eighth game in nine outings as they secured a 1-0 win at Wootton Bassett.

A second-half Sam Barratt penalty was the difference between the sides, as the Robins moved back up to 12th place having been leapfrogged by Briscombe & Thrupp the previous night.

It was not such good news for Wokingham & Emmbrook as they were beaten 2-1 by Maidenhead United Reserves in the quarter-finals of the Hellenic Supplementary Cup.

After a bright start from Sumas, they fell on 17 minutes when Jack Gibbs turned a cross into his own net.

The home side doubled the advantage shortly afterwards with an excellent strike.

Sumas pulled a goal back on the hour mark when Jake Butler was fouled in the box and he stepped up to blast the penalty into the bottom corner.

Brandon Baker-Timms was sent off for the challenge, giving Sumas a numerical advantage for the final 30 minutes.

But the closest they came to equalising was when Elliott Rushforth turned the ball home, only for the linesman to raise his flag for offside.
