ASCOT United reached the final of the Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup with a dramatic 94th-minute Joe Yeates winner giving them a 2-1 success against Flackwell Heath at the Racecourse Ground.

The early part of the match saw the visitors have most of the possession and
Ascot finding it hard to keep the ball, although on 17 minutes Tom McGarry had a decent header go just over from a Paul Coyne free-kick for the Yellamen.

However, just a minute later Flackwell took the lead following a quick break which stretched the home defence.

Dylan Kearney twisted and turned before beating Chris Grace with a low shot
into the far corner.

Ascot responded when Thomas Hedges fired over when well placed. Then in the space of a few minutes Steve Deverell delivered two great crosses into the box but no Ascot player could get a decisive shot on goal.

Just before the break Jamie West hit a powerful shot from just outside the box but Flackwell's keeper Dan Weait saved well, from the resulting loose ball a last ditch tackle denied Hedges a tap in.

In the second half James Goodey replaced Hedges, but the first real chance of the half saw Flackwell's Dan Molley shoot at goal, only for Grace to make a brilliant save to push the fierce shot over the bar.

Ian Brooks replaced the impressive Louis Gilpin and on 64 minutes Ascot were level. The ball came out to Goodey from a corner and his goalbound shot was diverted past Weait via Tom McGarry's header.

McGarry then saw his diving header go agonisingly wide of the post from Coyne's deep cross. In the 82nd-minute Flackwell's sub Joe Blount poked the ball wide after a good run into the box.

Then with five minutes of normal time remaining Yeates replaced the tiring Samir Regragui.

With Ascot now in the ascendancy in the fourth minute of added time Coyne played a delightful ball into the path of Goodey and the confident youngster took on the defence and played a great ball to the far post where the on-rushing Yeates slid in to fire past Weait to win the tie.

This saw Yeates enveloped by his jubilant teammates, giving Ascot another final to look forward to against the winners of the Thatcham v Brimscombe & Thrupp semi final.
