TYLER D’Cruz has turned from goal stopper to goal scorer – much to Binfield’s delight, writes Dave Wright.
The youngster came off the bench to net his second goal in three games as the Moles handed out a 10-1 hiding to Woodley United in their Reading Senior Cup tie on Monday.
D’Cruz is a promising goalkeeper, having played for Bedfont Sports, and he was in the Middlesex side that lost 3-2 to Cheshire in the FA County Youth Cup final last April.
Moles manager Roger Herridge said: “When he came here, he told us he was a forward and he is not doing badly. He showed some nice touches again.
“It was a cruise and I was disappointed we conceded a goal.”
Binfield took advantage of some appalling Woodley defending and could easily have scored a few more goals. Keeper Jon Norris also made several fine saves.
Brad Brown netted a hat-trick, while there were two goals apiece for Liam Ferdinand and Jemel Johnson.
Subs D’Cruz and Mark Jordan, plus a Peter Phillips own goal completed the rout.
Matt Brookling replied for United, who trailed 7-0 at half-time.
Herridge added: “Woodley deserve some credit as they kept going to the end and didn’t lose their discipline.”
Moles skipper Alex Luis limped off with a hamstring problem and could miss the match at Brackley Town Saints this Saturday.
