With second and third placed Golden Farmer and Finchampstead paired together it was always going to be a tight game, and so it proved with Farmer just edging a 3-2 victory.

Farmer started well and top scorer Dan Adams got them off to a perfect start just 10 minutes in with a fine individual effort, firing home from 20 yards.

The goal woke Finch up and within 10 minutes they were level, John Cobb heading home from a corner.

Farmer responded well and less than five minutes later Adams had added his second.

Finch then enjoyed their best spell of the game and deserved to level things up at 2-2 before the break, once again scoring from a set piece with Byron Hobbs on target.

The second half was end-to-end, but Adams was the difference between the sides and Farmer’s target man finished well following another fine individual run just before the hour.

County Cup finalists Finch gave it all they had in their quest for an equaliser, but they failed to breach a Farmer defence superbly marshalled by Josh Flynn and Trev Weeks.

Division leaders FC Fernhill will be the side lining up against Golden Farmer in the final as they overcame a spirited AFC Wokingham 2-1 in the other semi-final played at Finchampstead’s Memorial Ground pitches, Luke Angel netting AFC’s consolation.

Meanwhile, in the only Premier Division league game on Sunday, Sunningdale & Wentworth continued their recent good run of form with a third straight win and clean sheet as they beat high-flying Morale Madrid 1-0.

Matt Farrimond netted the only goal of the game when he finished off a great Matt Humphrey run with an easy tap-in after 20 minutes.

Humphrey was outstanding throughout as he created enough chances to have scored at least a hat-trick himself, but keeper Chris Grace was the standout player on the Madrid side as he made a string of excellent saves to deny Humphrey and Harry Goss.

In a well-contested game, man-of-the-match was Sunningdale skipper Matt Sershall who was in inspired form.

Division One THE title is still up for grabs, and although they will fall just short this season, Bracknell Celtic have given a fine account of themselves in their first season in this division.

Last weekend goals from Jamie Tucker (2), Charan Dulan (2), Ryan Cooper and Will Pangborn helped them smash Parks FC 6-1.

In the only other game, Waverley Rangers ran out 5-2 winners over Warfield United.

Division Two JUST when Junior Cup finalists Braybrooke Athletic look like they were taking control at the top, they came crashing back down to earth on Sunday.

Their four-match winning streak came to an abrupt end in a 2-1 defeat at third-placed Sandhurst FFC, which puts the victors right back in the frame with games in hand over the top two sides.

Berks County are another side not out of the hunt either as they beat Old Manor 5-2 to keep themselves just six points off the top. Nick Gawen hit four goals while Sean Watson also netted. Simon Hawkins and Sam Williams replied for Manor.

Winnersh Town won by the odd goal in five, beating Woodley Hammers 3-2.

Hope & Anchor put last month’s Junior Cup semi-final defeat behind them with a 5-0 victory against Crownwood Dukes – their biggest league win of the season.

Division Three WHITEGROVE FC are the first side to claim a BTDSFL league title this season.

They secured the championship without playing a game last weekend as a 2-1 loss for Berkshire All Stars at Woodley Hammers Reserves means Whitegrove can no longer be caught by the chasing pack.

Whitegrove, with two fixtures left to play, also remain the only undefeated side throughout all the BTDSFL divisions.

Elsewhere, Winnersh Town Reserves and Bracknell Manics Reserves played out a 2-2 draw and Bracknell Saint-Germain bagged the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win against FC Bracknell.

Meanwhile, congratulations also went out to the last BTDSFL side left in the invitational Aldershot Cup as Sunningdale & Wentworth Reserves managed to secure their passage to the final by beating Surrey side West Liss 3-2 in their semi-final on Sunday.

The final is due to be played at Aldershot Town FC on Sunday, May 3 against opponents yet to be decided.
