WARFIELD Cricket Club has been given a pre-season boost after receiving a grant of more than £14,000.
They have purchased a new mechanical “sit-on” strip roller, a new scarifier, and new sightscreens thanks to the £14,150 given by SUEZ Communities Trust.
Club chairman Chris Martin said: “The new equipment will enable us to provide a safer playing environment for members and visiting teams.
“We have recently swelled our junior participation to around 80 children of varying ages, of whom will benefit for years to come, thanks to the grant.”
Marianne Ivin, of SUEZ Communities Trust, added: “We were delighted to be able to help this thriving club to upgrade their equipment.
“These items are key to maintaining the club and to the enjoyment of the players.”
Aside from the colts, Warfield play in Division Two of the Berkshire League on Saturdays, Division Two of the Reading Midweek League, and Sunday friendlies.
