CHAIRMAN Kayne Steinborn-Busse said he is still “extremely proud” of what Bracknell Town have achieved despite their failure to win the Hellenic League title and secure promotion to the Southern League, writes Dave Wright.

After seeing his side miss their chance in dramatic fashion on Saturday, he said: “I still have immense pride for our team.

“Yes, we did come up short, but the first-team squad and management team have been fantastic this season and we will go again next season.

“We will be in a better position, both on and off the field. This club is growing and we don’t intend to stop.

“Remember, last year we were involved in a relegation dogfight. This season, we have finished second in a tough league and we are still involved in three cup competitions. That is progress in my book and we will continue to make progress.”

Steinborn-Busse added: “A few months ago our ground was a dump, but look at it now.

“We have seen a massive increase in the number of fans we are attracting for our home matches. We have become the best supported club in the Hellenic League by some distance. No other club is pulling in three-figure crowds at every home game.”

Saturday’s attendance at Larges Lane of 703 was the second biggest in the whole of Step 5 football in the country.

The chairman continued: “We have become very much part of the local community and this club is growing. Local schools are using our facilities week in, week out and we have ambitious plans to double the number of youth and colts teams for next season.”
