BRACKNELL Bees suffered their ninth consecutive defeat as they went down 4-0 to Berkshire rivals Basingstoke Bison at The Hive on Sunday night.

After a goalless opening period, the visitors took the lead when captain Aaron Connolly netted his first of the evening shorthanded as Joe Baird sat out a kneeing penalty.

The Bison doubled their lead seven minutes from time as Joe Rand netted from a Baird assist and then within a minute Connolly grabbed a third.

A late penalty on Stuart Mogg saw the Bees pull netminder Alex Mettam, but the Bison player returned to the ice and scored into the empty net to complete the rout.

The Bees had previously been beaten 7-3 at Telford Tigers on Saturday.

The visitors made a promising start and took the lead courtesy of a Milan Kostoruek strike on eight minutes, but six goals in the opening 13 minutes of the second period saw Telford take complete control of the contest.

They equalised through Martin Ondrej and a mere 25 seconds later the home side had taken the lead with Max Birbraer finding the net.

Two more goals for the Tigers in the space of 20 seconds arrived five minutes later from Peter Szabo and Blahoslav Novak as Telford took command.

Bees hit back with a Lukas Smital strike to cut the gap to 4-2, but Szabo restored the home side’s three-goal advantage just 45 seconds later.

Jonathan Weaver finished the scoring glut shortly after and Tigers held a 6-2 lead at the end of the period.

Smital scored a second to give Bees some hope of a miraculous recovery, but Sazbo then completed his hat-trick as the hosts eased to victory.

Bees will look to snap their poor run when they welcome Guildford Flames to The Hive this coming Saturday (6pm).

They then travel to Basingstoke on Sunday (5.30pm) and Swindon Wildcats on Monday (5.45pm).
