SOUTH Berkshire men moved top of the MBBO Regional Two table with a thumping 10-3 demolition of Banbury 2nds, writes Richard Ashton.
The division's top goalscorer, Tom King, hammered home a hat-trick for the hosts as he took his seasonal tally to 25, while Sam Fox-Harvey also bagged a brace.
Lachie Cope, Connor Eatwell, Sam Fuentes-Moreno, Daniel Ray and Harrison Scott were also on target for the home side, with the Banbury goals coming from Waqas Akbar, Jacob Buckner-Rowley and Harry Simons.
With previous leaders Sonning surprisingly thrashed 5-1 by West Hampstead 2nds, South Berkshire are now one point clear at the top, albeit having played a game more.
Their final game of the season was due to take place at third-placed Wallingford on Saturday, however, due to the on-going Coronavirus situation, all hockey at the club has been temporarily cancelled.
Division Two champions South Berkshire 2nds were without a game last weekend, but South Berkshire 3rds slipped to a 4-3 Division Three defeat at Buckingham in a seven-goal thriller.
In Division Seven, South Berkshire 4ths battered Leighton Buzzard 3rds 7-2, while Division Eight West table-toppers South Berkshire Terriers stayed two points clear at the summit with a 4-1 victory against Witney 3rds.
South Berkshire ladies remain eighth in Premier Division One of the Trysports Three Counties League after they were beaten 1-0 at home by Aylesbury.
Second-bottom South Berkshire 2nds drew 1-1 with the team one place above them in the standings, Reading Rockets, in Premier Division Two, while South Berkshire 3rds dropped to sixth in the Division Three table after losing 4-1 at home to Phoenix & Ranelagh 2nds.
Katie Wilson, Fran Flach, Jess Greener and Beth Tait-Alexander got the goals for the visitors.
In Division Five, South Berkshire 4ths lost 2-1 at home to Sonning 4b.
