BINFIELD CC managed to hang on for a draw at Pinkneys Green in a rain-affected Chilterns League Division One encounter, writes Oscar Beardmore-Gray.

The hosts batted first, with a prolonged spell of rain midway through their innings reducing the game by 20 overs.

After the skies cleared, Jags Dhillon (44) and Kevin Cox (44) led their side to a respectable 215-7 from their 42 overs, with Max Mitchell (3-61) and Ian Goddard (3-60) the pick of the bowlers.

In reply, Binfield reached 174-9 from 38 overs. The visitors had initially started well as they made it to 88-2, with opener Chris Morgan striking 42 and Adam Marshall hitting 36.

However, four wickets from Imran Tariq pegged Binfield back to 101-5 and they were left relying on Alex Jackson’s 42 to ensure the draw.

Binfield 2nds got their Division Two season back on track with a five-wicket win against Taplow.

After opening bowling pair Kamal Gupta (3-35) and James Wright (3-33) removed Taplow’s openers cheaply, the visitors’ innings never really got off the ground.

Despite a handy 41 from Andy Mills, Binfield bowled their opponents out for just 110 from 32.4 overs.

In reply, Binfield’s openers’ Joseph Scullley (32) and Kamal Gupta (14) ensured the result was never in doubt despite a brief middle order collapse.

However, a steady 17 not out from James Wright made sure Binfield got over the line for their first league win of the season.
