WOKINGHAM A continued their excellent start to the Kennet League Division One campaign with an 84-65 victory against Royal Household.

The victors won on three of the four rinks, with the most successeful made up of Neil Jones, Alan Symondson, Andy Franklin and Ron Swan. They won 27-8.

In Division Two, Wokingham B lost 82-68 at Great Hollands.

Wokingham only won one rink – the one skipped by Bob Hales-Owen along with John Evans, Kevin Walter and Mike Drinkwater. They earned a 24-14 success.

Wokingham C lost 89-68 at Reading University in Division Three.

The rink skipped by Paul Dollery along with Keith Roberts, Joe Strange and Ken Martin won their game by 24 shots.

Wokingham were thrashed 72-35 by Suttons in their KLX Division One contest, with the only winning triple for the hosts the one skipped by Trevor Gilmour along with Bob Thompson and Martin Brailey (22-16).

Wokingham B won 48-41 at Palmer Park. They won two of the three triples with the top trio Ted Melber along with Jim Rudd and Barry Woolley. They won 19-9.

Wokingham C upset Suttons B 62-58 in Division Two. The highest up triple for Wokingham was skipped by Eric Nathan along with Claude Linnell and Robin Harding who won 24-17.

In Division Three, Wokingham D lost 57-36 to Three Mile Cross B.

Wokingham Acorns beat Reading 48-44 in their Thames Valley Ladies League Division One encounter.

Although they won on only one of the three triples – the one skipped by Joy Holmes with Marion Evans and Teresa O’Connor (23-8) – it was enough to secure the victory.

In Division Three, Wokingham Oakapples lost 58-37 to Reading University. The top triple for Wokingham was skipped by Joy Deeves along with Lucy Nathan and Jean Balkwell. They won 21-13.

  • SUNNINGDALE beat Windsor Great Park 86-65 in the second leg of their Ascot Cup match, retaining the trophy. Their highest scoring rink consisted of Mike Thompson, Colin Shefford, and Derek Cooper (skip).

In the Kennet League, Sunningdale lost 92-64 at home to Bracknell, taking four points to their opponents’ 10. Reg Nutley, Ken Johnson, John Forster and Brian Webb(skip) were the hosts’ best performers.

Sunningdale A lost 56-47 at Royal Household in their KLX clash. Highest scoring rink for Sunningdale: was made up of Nutley, George Edwards and Dennis Bailey (skip).

Sunningdale B played at home against Great Hollands B, losing by 55-47 shots. Great Hollands took eight points to Sunningdale’s two, with the best rink for the losers including Adrian Thomas, John Dumpleton and Keith Steele (skip).

In County Pairs, Sunningdale’s Derek and Ryan Cooper are through to the third round following a win against Desborough.

  • GREAT Hollands Linnets lost two of the three rinks in a 51-46 defeat to Island Bohemia Swans in the Thames Valley Ladies League. Jo Sanders skipped the winning rink (23-16).

The Wrens beat Island Bohemia Cygnets 58-40. Sheila Strickland skipped the most dominant rink (20-11).
