Chris Batchu (62) put up some resistance, but David Healey (4-35) and Rukshan Soza (3-36) helped dismiss the hosts for 146.

Will Ellison was in inspired form with the ball for Ascot, making two breakthroughs as Loxton was caught be James Wensley for a duck and Ben Myles was trapped leg before.

Michael Cowdell (33) and Jake Turner (25) steadied the Wokingham ship, but when they were both dismissed by Ellison, the game was in the balance.

The opening bowler then completed a brilliant five-for by removing Soza caught and bowled, giving Ascot a real chance.

However, Dan Reddyhough (29no) used all his experience to calm the situation for The Oaks, and aided by an explosive 43no from 29 balls from new captain Ashley Brinsford, Wokingham secured the win in the 35th over.

Royal Ascot 2nds battered NPL Teddington 2nds by eight wickets after skittling their opponents for just 58 in Division 6b.

Saeed Ahmed (4-21), Nikesh Patel (3-12) and Jason Carr (2-4) were all on form with the ball, before Tharindu Denipitiyage’s unbeaten 30 – allied to Carr’s 17 not out – guided Ascot home.

Royal Ascot 3rds beat North Maidenhead 3rds by three wickets in an exciting Division 7a contest.
