Elevate is inviting designers, artists and photographers between 16 and 24, who live or go to school in Wokingham, to submit a plan for a two-dimensional artwork for display in the careers and employment hub at Wokingham Library.
Out of the initial applicants, four finalists will be chosen before a single artist is given the commission by the borough council early next year.
The successful artist will get support from industry experts and up to £500 to spend on design costs and materials.
Executive member for children’s services Cllr Charlotte Haitham Taylor said: “This is a golden opportunity for any young person between the ages of 16 and 24 who is interested in developing a career in the creative sector.
“Whatever your background or previous experience, we urge you to have a go at the project.
“You will be able to develop your artistic skills, as well as your organisational and communication skills; all of which are important in any profession.” The deadline for expressing an intrest is Monday, December 15. Applicants should submit a design concept outline of no more than 300 words alongside sketches or images of the project. They should also include a brief biography and examples of previous work. Application forms can be requested from Jane Clark at jjclark@btconnect.com
