The carnival is a free day of family entertainment, with a host of activities for all ages.

There will be jugglers, a Punch and Judy show, Morris dancers, stilt walkers, live music, fairground rides and much more.

In addition to the entertainment there will be over 100 craft and produce stalls for people to visit.

The library will be playing host to Santa’s grotto and you can also meet Elsa from Frozen at 12.30pm, 1.30pm and 2.30pm.

There will be the traditional Christmas parade, departing from Shute End at 4pm then going along Rectory Road, Wiltshire Road, Peach Street, Denmark Street, Wellington Road and Station Road.

Cathy Valentine helped organise the carnival. She said: “Musical Ruth, a man dressed as a nun playing and driving a motorised piano, will be part of the parade. The theme is to do with movie magic so we couldn’t do it without a nun from The Sound of Music.

“The Wokingham Carnival is about community, people talking to each other. It’s about the proper meaning of Christmas goodwill and fun.” Cathy said it would be a great day, as usual, with lots going on. The first event starts at 11am.

The town’s Christmas lights will be turned on by town mayor Martin Bishop and mini-mayor Joe at the end of the day, around 4.30pm.
