BANK holiday revellers were bathed in glorious sunshine this weekend at the eleventh annual Wokingham Festival.

On August 25, Cantley Event Field on Twyford Road welcomed punters for a weekend of food, drink and music.

Things got going at 6.30pm with indie-rock five piece Goliath taking the stage followed by Wokingham’s very own Eric Street Band.

The Bronson headlined the day, running through a mix of original tunes and garage band covers.

The next night The Average Chalky White band and its nine brass players dropping funk laden covers of Bruno Mars, The Rolling Stones and Blur.

And on Sunday The Police Academy delivered a Sting based classic rock tribute of high authenticity.

Stan Hetherington, organiser of the festival, said: "It went fantastically well. The best weather we have ever had and the biggest crowd ever.

"I did a straw poll from the stage and about two thirds of people preferred the new venue.

"The crowd appreciation was the highlight for me. So many people were going up to the volunteers and thanking them for what they had done.

"All the acts were first class and all the stall holders did very well."
