7.33pm: So that's it! The borough elections are complete, with the Conservatives gaining five seats to seal a haul o 41 of the 42 seats in the 18 wards across the borough. Only Labour's Mary Temperton prevented a Tory whitewash as she retained her seat in Great Hollands North.

We thought we may never get there!

3.45pm: There are murmurings on the ground that the Conservatives could be looking at a clean sweep of all 42 seats on the council here. They currently hold 36, but a full house would be unprecedented.

3.44pm:

3.37pm:

3.32pm: We will be heading downstairs to the counting hall shortly as it seems some of the ward results are due imminently. We won't have access to a computer but we will be tweeting each and every result via @bracknellnews as they come in.

3.29pm: Richard Thomas has waved his prediction wand again, saying the Tories could, POSSIBL, snatch all 42 council seats.

He said: "From what I've seen it's not looking good for any of the other parties, it's another day for the Tories.

"They could possibly win all 42 seats but having all the seats on the council is not a good idea, it's not good for democracy to have one party, you need some opposition."

3.20pm: Expecting first ward results in by about 4pm today, not as long as last night!

3.16pm: Dee Hamilton, hoping to retain her seat and position as Bracknell Town Mayor said: "It's definitely going to be the most interesting election for years. I think it's going to be a historical day in politics, even for local elections."

3.03pm: We've done a tea round. Chocolate fingers optional.

2.44pm: Incumbent leader of Bracknell Forest Council Paul Bettison spoke to us about the long campaign and fighting to retain his seat in the Little Sandhurst and Welington ward.

He said: "It's been a long campaign and I have seen more activity than I've ever seen before, locally. The good people of Bracknell Forest have had the opportunity to have their say and I think they will not find us wanting.

"My members have never worked so hard before and I am optimistic. I would like to take my hat off to the counters who are doing a great job, their eyes wll be on stalks by the end of today."

2.38pm: We will be pausing for two minutes at 3pm to mark Victory in Europe Day (VE Day) - which signalled the end of the war with Germany in 1945.

2.34pm: Counting is well under way here, candidates buzzing around the floor watching the volunteers as they sort the ballots.

2pm: And we're off! No it's not the races, the borough election count has begun. The heavy eyes are starting to take teir toll but we are determined to carry soldiering on and bring you all the results as they come in.

1.57pm: Counting is due to start at in a few minutes at 2pm and should be much quicker after all the votes were verified last night. We hope.

1.30pm: You thought the elections were over? Think again. After Conservative Dr Phillip Lee stormed to victory in the General Election for Bracknell in the early hours of this morning, the counters are prepped again for the borough elections.

With 42 seats across 18 different wards up for grabs, it is certainly going to be a busy afternoon. In the last council, Conservatives held 36 seats, Ukip had three, Labour had two and Birch Hil Residents held one.
