South Hill Park was the venue for the town’s second Festival of Folk, organised by Bracknell musician Phil Daniels.

Mr Daniels, 32, plays in a band called All Things Considered, and his company is called Artree Music.

He said around 600 people attended a free event during the day in addition to the evening theatre show.

Headline acts included CrossHarbour and Show of Hands.

Mr Daniels, who plays an African tribal drum, said the folk genre was very popular among people ‘including many much younger than me’.

He added: “We have been running a monthly folk music evening in the park for six years but this was the second major Festival of Folk, “We more than doubled last year’s attendance.

“We covered all things traditional, including blues, folk/rock, real ale and Morris dancers, because we ensure that folk music is accessible to as many young performers as possible.” He added: “It was a great team effort from five or six hard working people.”
