Developer Taylor Wimpey appealed against Bracknell Forest Council’s decision to refuse plans for 12 three-bedroom houses on the site of Ramslade House in the centre of The Parks last April.
In his report released this week, independent planning inspector Robert Marshall felt there would be road safety issues if bin lorries had to access three of the houses from Tempest Mews, a private road with no place to turn easily.
When the plans were submitted last year, there were more than 50 objections received from residents, citing parking issues, the loss of green space and the loss of the historic building. The plans had also outlined 33 parking spaces for the new houses – 24 for residents and nine for visitors.
Cllr Chris Turrell, of Harmans Water ward, said: “This application raises some important points for developers to consider when trying to fit extra housing onto a site. Going forward, I hope they will take a more neighbourly approach in considering what to do with this site.”
