Coral Reef Waterworld has donated £1,355 to mayor Cllr Andy Blatchford, who is raising funds for Pancreatic Cancer UK, the chosen charity of his predecessor Cllr Alan Kendall, who died in November of the disease.

The leisure centre, which is set to close in December for a year to undergo major improvements, was awarded the money from a supplier’s survey prize draw held by Brenntag UK & Ireland LTD, its supplier of swimming pool chemicals.

Cllr Blatchford said: “I’m delighted to accept this donation on behalf of Pancreatic Cancer UK. It does such important work to improve treatments for this very difficult disease and it is very close to my heart because it meant a lot to Alan.” Gary Swann, centre manager at Coral Reef Waterworld, said: “Everyone here at Coral Reef is very happy to support the mayor’s charity and hope this donation will help in improving the diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer in the UK.”
