The Strictly Come Dancing star is the new ambassador for the Dog Trouble Foundation which opened in Wokingham in February.

She joined families and dog lovers at the event with a host of activities and dog classes on offer and helped the charity raise more than £900, with all proceeds being put back into the charity.

Around 150 people turned out to enjoy the afternoon, with dog agility shows and special dog classes on offer for the visitors’ canine friends.

Jo Cottrell, founder of the foundation, said: “It was a brilliant day, it’s really down to the staff and volunteers and all their hard work that the day was such a success.

“Flavia is a great ambassador, she has a big interest in dogs, she says she hopes to have one of her own when she isn’t as busy anymore.” Dog Trouble, based in Birchin Inhams Farm, helps rehabilitate dogs and provides education to owners so they can better understand their pets.

Ms Cottrell, a former secondary school teacher, established the foundation earlier this year after training with the Dog Whisperer himself, Ceser Millan.

After flying out to California to meet him, Ms Cottrell can now finally indulge her passion for dogs.

“Soon after I took in a rescue dog it started attacking the dog I already had, that was when I started watching the Dog Whisperer,” she said. “I tried some of his techniques on my dog and they worked. I’ve always had a gift with dogs and enjoy helping them live happier lives.” For more information about the foundation visit their website, www.dogtrouble.co.uk
