AILING music retailer, HMV has announced the closure of 66 stores, including its Bracknell branch in the next two months. Its nine staff are facing redundancy.
The affected stores employ 930 staff, administrators Deloitte said.
The company, which has 220 stores in the UK, went into receivership in January.
The HMV store in Reading is not part of the 66-store closure programme.

Report commentA blank canvass nearly now, where are any visible signs of regeneration apart from Waitrose?

Report commentIt's very sad but it's easy to see that it isn't viable with the town in its current state. Maybe if HMV can stabilise their business in the next couple of years, they may be in a position to expand and come back to the regenerated town centre. Or the whole chain will collapse anyway and we won't be any worse off than anywhere else!

Report commentThe problem is thats its still to dear even with 25% off a number of things, and even if i see something in here i will go online and it will be much cheaper. This is why HMV is having to close a number of stores because people are just "Adding to cart" and buying this way, its a shame because many of our stores are closing and there will be no high streets or shopping malls again. :(
