Cllr Virgo said: "I am here today to start the race. It is a wonderful turnout today. It is always a well-supported event and attracts crowds from all over.
"The charity element is of course the main part. Without charity we would be a poorer country. Bracknell Forest is always brilliant in supporting a number of charities."
"A lot of planning goes into signage and policing and road closures. The local authority has had to work hard over many months, so I extend my thanks to them."
With four months to go until the official opening of The Lexicon, Cllr Virgo added: "It will give Bracknell a heart and it will give the town a focal point and hopefully attract a lot of business to the area.
"There is more development to come and I think this regeneration will be vital for Bracknell."
