An event with vital information on fostering will take place on Wednesday evening.

Around 100 children within Bracknell Forest are looked after by foster careers.

The information evening will be held at Brownlow Hall, Newell Green in Warfield and will give prospective carers the chance to talk to foster carers from the local area and hear about their personal experiences.

There are many different kinds of fostering, but all of them involve caring for someone else’s child for a period of time. All kinds of people are needed to become foster carers and the council needs people to work with a wide range of young people including sibling groups, teenagers and children with disabilities.

Cllr Gareth Barnard, executive member for children, young people and learning, said: "These sessions provide anyone who is interested in fostering with free, non-obligatory advice and information.

“Fostering can be an incredibly rewarding experience and we want to ensure that anyone in the borough who has ever considered becoming a foster carer has the chance to gain as much information as possible to help decide if it’s for them.

"As well as being a source of much needed support, encouragement and love for a vulnerable child or young person, you will also benefit from specialist training and financial support. We provide our foster carers with free training and development opportunities, as well as an allowance of between £955.40 and £1481.60 a month.

"If you'd like to find out more, our team will be delighted to meet you and answer any questions you may have."

The event will start at 7pm.
