25-year-old man found with more than 1,800 pornographic images of children

John Grenham was found to have more than 1,800 indecent images and movies of boys and girls.

Police searched his house on October 5 last year and seized several computers.

He was called into Maidenhead police station the next day and released on bail.

In February this year police were told that Grenham had sexual contact with a boy under the age of 16.

He was then arrested, charged with eight sexual offences and later charged with six offences of possessing child pornography and one count of distributing it.

He was found to have more than 1,863 images or movies of  boys and girls, ranging from the most serious to least serious category.

Grenham admitted the sexual offences at Reading Crown Court on June 15. He later admitted the pornography charges at the same court on August 7and was sentenced to seven years behind bars on Friday, October 23.

Investigator, Sarah Bradshaw from the Economic Crime Unit, said: “I am pleased to see Grenham handed a prison sentence for the crimes he has committed against children.

"The victim showed great courage in reporting what had happened to him to police and, thanks to his bravery, we were able to build the case against Grenham and secure a successful conviction.

“I would encourage anyone who has been a victim of sexual assault to come forward and speak to police. We will listen and we will always investigate any such allegations thoroughly.”

Grenham, of High Street, Crowthorne, was charged with sexual activity with a child under 16 years old, penetrative sexual activity with a child under 16, causing a child under 16 to engage in sexual activity, sexual activity with a child under 13 years, causing a child under 13 years to engage in sexual activity, inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, six counts of possessing an indecent photograph/pseudo-photograph of a child and one count of distributing an indecent photograph/pseudo-photograph of a child.
