Between 6.30-6.45pm a 25-year-old man was walking from Gipsy Lane on the footpath that leads onto London Road, when he saw three men approaching him.

He was then hit on the back of the head and the jaw by the gang and was knocked unconscious.

He sustained swelling and bruising to his eye, cuts across his face and across the back of his head, while cash was also stolen from his wallet.

He was taken to Royal Berkshire Hospital but has since been discharged.

The gang are described as a gang of three men, but no further descriptions are available.

A silver Mercedes was seen in the area at the time of the attack.
