A FISTFIGHT involving the former leader of a notorious far-right nationalist group is being investigated by police.

On June 24 footage emerged of Tommy Robinson fighting in the Ascot racecourse car park and quickly went viral.

Now police are asking any witnesses to come forward.

Mr Robinson, former leader of the English Defence League, was caught on CCTV fighting another suited man on the last day of the race festival.

He admitted his involvement online but claimed he was provoked.

Footage arose of the incident after it was recorded on the dash cam of the bus Mr Robinson and his family were taking to the meet.

The event occurred at about 7pm and left one of the men suffering an injury as a result.

The cause of the incident is currently unknown and no arrests have been made.

Detective Inspector Emma Brown said: "I'm appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident and has any information relating to it to get in touch.

"This incident happened at a busy time, and dash cam footage of the altercation has already appeared in the media.

"We also know that various people intervened to break up the fight, and we are therefore hopeful that there will be a number of people who witnessed the altercation and have information which could help our investigation.

"If you have any details relating to this, please call the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number on 101."

Both of the men were white, dressed in suits and aged in their mid-twenties or thirties.
