CHICKS hatching in time for Easter were watched with delight by children at an Ascot nursery school.

Children at Storybook Montessori in the High Street were the recipients of 10 eggs two weeks ago and they have been waiting patiently for them to hatch ever since.

After being placed in a special incubator in the garden, the day they were all waiting for came on April 3.

“Snakes, chickens, ducks, turtles and even dinosaurs were put forward as possibilities as to what was inside the eggs when the first cracks appeared,” said Samantha Cooper, nursery manager.

“They announced with tangible excitement that there were baby chicks inside the eggs. The children took great pride in helping change their bedding and making sure they were well looked after.”

Once they had hatched, the chicks were placed into a new home where they could stretch their little legs, eat and drink plenty of fresh water.
