A HOMEMADE video shows the 'torture' some Binfield residents regularly have to cope with while a car wash at a nearby dealership is being used.

The constant buzzing from the site was recorded on Saturday, September 26, (3.42pm) despite Jemca Toyota being served a letter in July informing them their car wash breached planning rules as they did not have permission to build it.

A resident living close to the site recorded the car wash after comparing the constant noise from the dealership to “torture”.

Bracknell News:

The neighbour, who did not wish to be named, added: “We aren’t able to sit in our garden as the noise is so disruptive. I have a hearing impairment and I can still hear the washer, but because I am unable to block out the background sound I can’t have a conversation In the garden as I physically can’t hear the person speaking.

“Essentially I am getting trapped in the sound of the jet wash.

“[It] is like having loud white noise constantly, which I believe has been used as a method of torture in some countries.

“My son, who is studying for his GCSEs, can’t have his windows open as the noise is there.

“We have actually spent pretty much every summer evening this year sat inside with the doors and windows closed to drown out the noise!”

As the News reported last month, the John Nike Way dealership in Binfield has been making residents’ lives difficult too, with one describing the disturbance as a “living hell”.

The facility has been used to clean the dealership’s cars during the last two years despite not even having planning permission from Bracknell Forest Council (BFC).

Toyota chiefs have now asked for retrospective permission to be granted by the council’s planning chiefs.

But the submission has attracted a lot of opposition from residents living on Braeside, where some houses are barely ten metres from the car wash.

Bracknell News:

So far, 11 residents have sent objections to the BFC, with one resident commenting on the “living hell” the car wash was causing them.

Now Binfield Parish Council has also lodged its objections.

Their recommendation to refuse the car wash application came last week after councillors agreed the facility was an “unneighbourly development” which is “causing significant interruption to the quiet enjoyment of nearby residents’ properties.”

The response continued: “Retrospective planning applications are inappropriate and businesses should know better to start operations without appropriate permissions in place.”

Bracknell Forest Council is still considering the application and no decision has yet been made on the plans.
