RESIDENTS are being urged to make sure their electoral details are up to date ahead of the local elections next year.

Bracknell Forest Council (BFC) will be sending out annual canvass forms to all houses in the coming weeks, and residents are being encouraged to make sure their details are up to date so they don't miss out on the chance to vote in the elections in May 2019.

Residents are being urged to check and confirm who should be registered to vote at their address, including anyone over the age of 16 and new occupants. Anyone who has moved out of the property should be removed.

Where possible, residents are being asked to use the online service, as this will save the council money which can be used on other local services.

If there are no changes you can also reply quickly and easily by phone or text. Anyone not registered to vote, can go online and register at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.

Householders are asked to respond to the form as soon as they receive it. If you haven’t received your form by mid September, please call 01344 352000 to request a replacement.

Timothy Wheadon, the Electoral Registration Officer said "Bracknell Forest residents have a good record for responding promptly. Last year over 60% of residents replied to this first form and we’re hoping to beat that figure this year. I would urge anyone who isn’t currently registered to update their details as soon as possible so they can exercise their fundamental right to vote at the next election."
