FUN-seekers galloped down to Cantley Park for a summer fair in aid of a horse charity last weekend.

Young and old made the most of the glorious sunshine on Sunday (22) to enjoy a dog show, pony rides and live music to raise money for local charity Saving Abandoned Fly-Grazing Equines (SAFE).

Trustees Vicki Painter and Alison Stratford said: "Our third Family Fun Day surpassed all our expectations. The weather was amazing and local residents turned out in their thousands to come along and enjoy the day.

"Our volunteers worked tirelessly before, during and after the event to make sure everyone was catered for - offering a fabulous tea and cake stall, vegetarian bbq and bar. The 'Grand Raffle' was generously supported by many local businesses offering amazing prizes.

"Our supporters pulled out all the stops, with singer Michelle Bewley providing entertainment throughout the day, aided by many local groups, choirs and artists.

"Supporter Di Whiting ran the excellent dog show, which attracted hundreds of beautiful dogs.

"We'd like to thank Wokingham Council who allowed us the use of Cantley Park - the perfect venue!

"SAFE is an entirely voluntary group, run by local volunteers and funded by donations. All money raised goes directly to the costs of horses in our care for rehabilitation - all rescued locally. We currently have an orphaned two-month-old foal and a heavily pregnant mare, amongst many others, in our care. The UK is in the middle of a 'horse crisis' with unprecedented numbers of abandoned and neglected horses and ponies."
