POLICE are appealing for witnesses following an attempted ram-raid at a supermarket in Wokingham earlier this week.
At around 3am on Wednesday (28) a group of offenders attempted to steal an ATM from Waitrose in Rectory Road.
The offenders used a black Porsche Cayenne in an attempt to remove the cash machine.
The offenders fled the scene empty handed.
Investigating officer, Detective Inspector Mike Bettington, said: “We are appealing for witnesses to come forward who might have seen this incident take place or any suspicious activity involving a Porsche Cayenne over the days in the lead up to the incident.
“Crime scene investigators and detectives have now completed their initial enquiries at the scene and the store remains open for business as usual.
“The offenders did not get away with any cash and the vehicle has now been recovered by police. Enquiries are ongoing to identify and locate those responsible.”
“Anyone with information should call 101 quoting reference 85 28/02/18.”
