THE LEXICON'S Christmas light switch-on featured over a hundred thousand lights to mark the start of an eventful festive period at the centre.

The switch-on of 135,000 lights was followed by a procession of entertainment led by the Forest Snow Queen through the avenues of The Lexicon.

The centre now plans to host various Christmas fun and entertainment including craft workshops for children and guest character visits throughout the festive period, up until Christmas Eve.

Sue Boor, head of marketing for The Lexicon said:  “It was fantastic to see so many people enjoying the Christmas light switch on Saturday.

"We hope to see many more joining in the festive fun over the coming weeks.”

Music and entertainment will continue throughout November and December, with street entertainers, local musicians and bands enhancing the Christmas spirit.

From the end of November there will also be a giant post box outside Pandora for shoppers to post a Christmas wish for a loved one and for The Lexicon to make five Christmas wishes.

Councillor Marc Brunel-Walker, executive member for economic development and regeneration, said:  “It was wonderful to see so many people enjoying the magical Christmas lights switch on at The Lexicon on Saturday.

"This festive season promises to be hugely exciting for our residents and visitors as the family-fun continues in the heart of our new town centre right up until Christmas Eve.”
