The gap between Bracknell and Wokingham will now be even shorter after plans were approved for a new housing estate.

On Thursday evening Bracknell Forest Council approved plans for 128 homes, made up of 29 houses and 99 flats, surrounding the Peacock Farm listed building.

This will now mean that there will now effectively be one field separating Bracknell and Wokingham from becoming one town.

At present, there is a housing development underway on the field next to the London Road and the A329, meaning there will be one main patch of greenery between the two towns.

There was also concern raised over the safety of these homes, with Conservative councillor Colin Dudley noting that the build may be detrimentally affected by facing onto the Peacock Lane, a busy main road.

The houses will be a mixture of 2 and 2.5 storey homes, and will be next to a listed farmhouse.

The proposals were unanimously approved.
