SIGNIFICANTLY more students came back with top grades at A Level this year compared to 2016.

Last August 77.13 per cent of all entries were graded A* to C, with 52.5 per cent A* to B.

This time around, 81 per cent of grades were A* to Cs and 56 per cent A* to B.

There was also a slight, 0.16 per cent rise in overall pass level, with 99.06 per cent of entries in Bracknell returned A* to E, 1.1 per cent higher than the national average.

Nikki Edwards, director of children, young people and learning, said: "Congratulations to all those young people who have worked so hard to achieve these fantastic results. Heartfelt thanks and appreciation are also due to the teaching staff whose commitment to their students has been outstanding.

“We are delighted that the A* to E pass rate remains above the figure achieved nationally and hope our young people achieve their future aspirations.”

The number of young people taking Level 3 qualifications also increased from 2016.

Councillor Gareth Barnard, executive member for children, young people and learning, said: "I am delighted to congratulate all the students who have achieved success in their A-level and other sixth form examinations.

"I am proud of the hard work and dedication of staff in our schools. I wish our young people every success for their chosen career paths.”
