POLICE are demanding pranksters stop dressing up as clowns as the 'killer clown' craze sweeps through Bracknell.

In total 14 clown sightings have been reported across Thames Valley in the last day with police saying they are wasting time attending the incidents.

The craze started in America but has caught on in Bracknell with creepy clowns seen near Blue's Smokehouse.

Leah Woodcock was eating at the popular restaurant with her partner Tom Fisher and others after the Bracknell Hornets' 3-7 loss to the Chelmsford Chieftains on Saturday, October 8.

"We were sat there when my friends shouted 'Oh my God,'" said the 22-year-old.

"This guy was standing there with his head pointing poking round the window. I just grabbed my phone and started recording it.

Warning: Some people may find the footage distressing.

"He stood there for two minuets just getting closer then he went to the next window down.

"A woman there lost her mind a bit and a group of guys went out.

"I was a bit scared, I wouldn't have gone near him, that's for sure.

"Then I saw it was just a group of kids being kids. There were about 10 of them and they must have been about 16.

"The group of guys from the restaurant chased them off towards The Point."

She said the creepy clown was seen at around 11pm.

Chief Superintendent Andy Boyd, head of neighbourhood policing said: "While we do not want to be accused of stopping people enjoying themselves we would also ask those same people to think of the impact of their behaviour on others and themselves.

"Their actions can cause fear and anxiety to other people, this could be perceived to be intimidating and threatening which could lead to public order offences, arrest and a criminal record.

"In addition, their behaviour is causing multiple reports to our call takers and is tying up police resources which could impact on calls to other incidents.

"While we realise that reports of this kind are not restricted to the Thames Valley area, the issues of intimidation, potential arrest and waste of public resources are the same across the country and we would urge people to refrain from such activity."

So far nobody has been hurt following the clown sightings, which have centred on Bracknell, Milton Keynes, Abingdon, and Chesham.
