1. Omaze winner decides to keep £3,500,000 Ascot mansion as family home

A NEW mum, who won the house of her dreams as part of the Omaze million-pound draw has said that she ‘loves her new life’.

Becca Pott, 32, scooped the £3.5 million mansion in Ascot after paying £10 for a ticket that helps raise funds for a cancer charity.

Despite many people flogging their prize homes, which are often halfway across the country, the family has chosen to keep the mansion which sits in the heart of the Royal Borough.

2. Neighbours 'saddened' by demolition of landmark Berkshire pub

Bracknell News:

Located in Winkfield village, the Squirrels was a popular meeting place for people frequenting the polo club and for locals in the area.

Construction workers were first seen at the site on Tuesday, August 15 where half of the structure had already been torn to the ground.

Among the rubble were some of the original fixtures that remained upon closure.

This included a still intact chalkboard that states their previous dining hours and a sign asking residents to ‘respect neighbours by keeping noise to a minimum’ - alongside its Spanish translation!

3. Wokingham Town Centre welcomes new Salty Olive Spanish restaurant

A new independent Spanish restaurant has arrived in Wokingham town centre to the delight of many residents.

Located in the Elms Field Development, Salty Olive is a bar and eatery that offers delicious, freshly made Spanish pinchos (or pintxos).

The restaurant was opened by Susannah Stewert who fell in love with Spanish dining and has had a long-standing dream of bringing this style of dining to the UK.

4. Søstrene Grene to give away freebies at opening of new Bracknell store

Bracknell News:

A DANISH homewares store will be giving away free items to the first 100 shoppers as part of its grand opening in Bracknell.

Søstrene Grene will open its new store on Friday, September 1 at 10am in the Lexicon.

The first 100 customers will be treated to a £60 voucher for a tufted rug and a canvas goodie bag with various products.

5. Swinley Forest residents lose battle over protected trees

Bracknell News:

Swinley Forest residents have lost their bid to remove an order that has restricted them from pruning two trees in their neighbourhood.

Residents of Sandford Down and Fordwells Drive wanted Bracknell Forest Council to remove a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) applied to two oak trees on the two neighbouring streets.

One tree is in the front garden of 6 Sandford Down, and the other is in the rear garden of 13 Sandford Down, with two stems in 34 Fordwells Drive.
