AN online event is taking place for Bracknell residents who are interesting in hosting a Ukrainian refugee.

Bracknell Forest Council are looking for residents who are interested in in being hosts, either as a private landlord or someone with space in their own home.

The authority is holding an online event where members from the ‘Homes for Ukraine’ scheme will be available to answer questions about what hosting a Ukrainian arrival is like.

Since forming in March 2022, the team have worked with hundreds of Ukrainian arrivals. They have also worked with the local Ukrainian community to help set up the Vsi Razom Community hub.

This month, that project won a bronze certificate at the iESE awards in London and has been praised a ‘wonderful’ resource for Ukrainian guests and their hosts.

Hosts are eligible for a £500 tax free monthly ‘thank you payment’ that doesn’t impact their council tax.

They will receive regular engagement and support from the Homes for Ukraine team at Bracknell Forest Council.
