A RETRIAL has been confirmed for a former GP who was charged with eight counts of indecent assault against seven different women between 1990 to 1997.

Stephen Cox, 67, was previously on trial Reading Crown Court but the jury was discharged after struggling to reach a verdict after 18 hours.

The jury acquitted him on one count of indecent assault but failed to reach a verdict on the other seven counts.

Cox worked at Ralph Rides Surgery in Bracknell, now known as the Waterfield Practice, more than two decades ago and he continues to deny the allegations.

Prosecutor Tahir Khan confirmed today (March 27) that there are still six complainants in the case, all of whom are willing to give evidence again.

A retrial has been listed for September 9 next year. Cox will remain on bail.
